Psychological and practical support in redundancy

Redundancy is a complex and time consuming business process requiring expert knowledge and skills in order to ensure legal compliance and minimise the risk of litigation. It inevitably has a significant impact on the mental health and wellbeing of all those involved.

With the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (or Furlough Scheme) coming to an end and major change programmes being planned in many organisations, EG Advisory and InvestPsych by Kalmaer have collaborated in order to bring their expertise together to provide holistic training in this sensitive area. It’s our view that how people are supported during difficult times is as important as getting the process right. Business leaders often feel overwhelmed not just by the complexity of major change initiatives, but also the emotional effect on themselves and those they are responsible for. Too often the focus is on the process and structure of change management with inadequate, or even no, attention given to the human side which can result in even the best-laid plans coming unraveled. Research shows that a consideration of the psychological impacts of change is key to maintaining engagement and reducing the risk of costs associated with stress. Our training offers practical psychological tools to assist participants to maintain wellbeing during periods of adversity and change.

The training will ensure that key stakeholder groups have the necessary knowledge to fulfil their roles in the redundancy process and understand the potential psychological and emotional impact, alongside tools to help them manage their mental health and well-being.
